Itinerary

Tour itinerary 2012

Day 1:

Potes (Cantabria): Fly from Stansted to Santander with Ryanair (about 1h 50m), flights not included in price. After arrival in Santander Airport, we transfer by private transport to HOSTERIA PICOS DE EUROPA - PICOSTOUR, in the village of Potes, capital of the Liébana Valley,where we will spend the next 7 nights, here we meet our tour guide for walk, and visits, meet in the evening.

Day 2:

After the breakfast. We transfer you to the visit Center National Park "SOTAMA", from here continue for visit Santa Maria de Lebeña, perromanican church (X century), after we go to visit small factory in the mountain village of Pendes, who made and you can try cheese, so typical of this valley. From here we transfer to the Hosteria Picos de Europa Restaurant for one typical menu from the Liebana Valley: Sopa de cocido (Stew soup), Cocido lebaniego (Meat Stew with chickpeas), Canonigo (local dessert) and Te de puerto con orujo (Tea of Picos with locally produced spirit).

In the afternoon we continue to visit Santo Toribio Monastery and spectacular wius from the mirado San Miguel Chapel. You can see the Eastern Massif and the Potes village. After this, we return to explore Potes and you free are until the dinner time in the HOSTERIA PICOS DE EUROPA

Day 3:

Breakfast  in the HOSTERIA PICOS DE EUROPA ,and transfer to the Hermida Gorge, our walk rising along and old Roman path across to arrive in hill hamlet of Cicera village and Mirador Santa Catalina, with a picnic lunch enroute for eat in this point, and contemplaire the Hermida Gorge, after we continue descent for one bateful bosque and canion to the road in La Hermida Gorge. We transfer 14 Km. to Potes, free until dinner.

Day 4:

Breakfast, transfer with PICOSTOUR to Fuente De, today we will take the cable car to the top "Mirador del Cable". From here we walk along mountain tracks to Peña Vieja base (the high mountain in Cantabria), Royal House, we arrive for packed lunch in Refugio of Aliva, and continue Puertos de Aliva, (lovely pastures, with full of wild flowers in spring), Portillas del Boqueron, walk under the base Pico Valdecoro to Fuente De. We transfer you to the Hosteria and you have free time until dinner.

Day 5:

After breakfast, transfer with PICOSTOUR 4x4 to "RUTA DEL CARES" ,  The Cares Gorge, road to Fuente De and continue in the National Park to Cain, the sceney you can see in the Picos spectacular we stop in four places for see beautiful picture from the Picos, LIebana Valley and Valdeon Valley. Cain we walk 12 kilometer bei the famous and spectacular Cares Gorge, from Cain to Puente Poncebos, here we stay about 30 m. From here 4x4 we crossing the Eastern Massif and Central Massif to Espinama and here 20 km. bei road to Potes. Dinner in Hosteria Picos de Europa.

Day 6:

Breakfast,from PICOSTOUR - HOSTERIA PICOS DE EUROPA transfer 16 km. to Urdon, here we begin our walk for spectacular ascent to the village in Picos, Tresviso, don´t forget to try the blue cheese, so typical of this village. From Tresviso transfer in 4x4 to Sotres (the highest village in the Picos) for take one tipic lunch: Fabada Asturiana, Cordero de los Picos, Postre, and after we transfer to Jito Escarandi and spectacular walk descent to Bejes, from here to La Hermida and Potes to have dinner.

Day 7:

Breakfast, from PICOSTOUR we transfer to Fuente De, and take the cable car to the top, ascent about two houres until Horcados Rojos (2506 m.) offering and unrivalled panorama of the area and spectacular panorama for contemplaire the most celebrated peak Naranjo de Bulnes (2519m.) Picnic, after descent to Aliva, Peña Oviedo, (Neolithic remains with an age of about 6000 BC) Mogrovejo, (medieval tower) from here transfer bei car to Potes. Dinner.

Day 8:

Breakfast in the HOSTERIA PICOS DE EUROPA and with your baggage in the PICOSTOUR cars, transfer bei private transport to visit The Soplao Caves, the cave is accessed on board a minig train which will take us 400 metres inside through a tunnel with conditioned mining props. After alighting fromthe train, we will walk for 60 mters along some uld mining galleries which will lead us to the chamber called the Galería Gorda (Fat Gallery). The whole of the tour is perfectly suitable for all types of visitor. After the visit transfer to have lunch in Santander. LAS OLAS Restaurant (La Maruca Beach). After lunch you can visit Santander until departure in Santander Airport to Stansted.
